Holy Resurrection Sunday was celebrated at the RUSSIA EXPO
The main
event of the Holy Easter Day was the Easter concert of the Patriarchal Choir of
the Cathedral of Christ the Savior under the direction of Ilya Tolkachev “Hymns
of Holy Easter” held in the concert hall of Pavilion No. 75.
"Today
is certainly a special day for us. The Choir of the Cathedral of Christ the
Savior is the acting choir that sang all night today in the Easter service. You
hear it every time you watch the broadcasts from the Temple. And now on Easter
Day we have come specially to the Exposition to share this joy with the people
who have come here today. We will evangelize on the Sunday of Christ,"
said theologian, historian, teacher of the Sunday school of the CCS, the host
of the concert program Sergei Tsybulsky.
Works by
authors of the XVIII-XX centuries and such famous composers as Sergei
Rachmaninoff and Pyotr Tchaikovsky were performed as part of the Easter
concert.
The
liturgical singing tradition of the Patriarchal Choir of the Cathedral of
Christ the Savior dates back many centuries. The very first musical act was
performed at the divine service on May 26 (June 7), 1883, when the solemn
consecration of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior took place. Today the
Patriarchal Choir is the brightest representative of all modern Orthodox music.
The Choir has an audience of many millions thanks to the services that are
broadcast on television. In addition, the Orthodox group is engaged in active
concert and educational activities both in Russia and abroad.
A rich
program has been prepared for the Exposition guests on the festive day. In the
Department Store zone of the “Regions of Russia” Pavilion an Easter Fair was
held throughout the day, where visitors were offered to buy carved icons,
elegant tablecloths, souvenir ceramic eggs, delicious kulichi (Easter cakes)
and Easter gingerbread, painted matryoshka dolls and toys, designer scarves and
kitchen sets, which will give the holiday a unique touch of warmth and
heartiness.
On Easter
Day, Department Store not only presented a new line of goods - that day the
master of ArtMatreshka48 brand Irina Sinyukova from Lipetsk region held a
masterclass on painting Easter chickens and angels in the Lipetsk style.
In
addition, in the Department Store guests were able to get into the atmosphere
of the bright holiday together with the Moscow student choir, which presented a
musical and poetic program for mental health and cultural development, based on
the works of poets and classics of the silver age.
All Russia
celebrates Easter Sunday. Regional stands have decorated their expositions in
Easter style and are holding many festive events. The stand of the Kemerovo
region-Kuzbass hosted a masterclass on making an Easter card and painting eggs.
North
Ossetia-Alania, the only Orthodox region in the Caucasus, organized its
masterclass on painting wooden eggs for interior decoration. The Moscow region
also demonstrated its mastery of painting wooden egg-shaped blanks. Each piece
received its own unique author's style. All guests of the stand of the Moscow
region were able not only to take part in the masterclass, but also to take the
resulting products with them.
In
addition, the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization "My Family" from the
Yaroslavl region invited visitors to a masterclass on painting Easter souvenirs
from wood. The program of workshops was brightened up by the performances of
young Yaroslavl residents with folk and spiritual dance program.
Also today,
Russian regions treated their guests to Easter traditional tastes at a feast in
the "House of Russian Cuisine". All day long at the Murmansk region's
“Arctic Moon” corner, visitors were welcomed by the traditional Easter game
“Bitki” - a competition to break painted eggs. Meanwhile, the chefs and pastry
chef of the regional corner taught how to make kulich “From the Arctic” with
dried cranberries, reindeer moss and lingonberries. At the Easter gastronomic
performance "From Kamchatka to the Arctic" in the "House of
Russian Cuisine", the Murmansk region was joined by chefs from the
Kamchatka and Altai regions, the Republics of Sakha (Yakutia) and Karelia, who
held masterclasses on how to prepare an unusual Easter cakes with local flavor:
Easter cake with dried lingonberries and pine cone, cottage cheese and creamy
custard Easter cake with pine nuts and dried cherries and other interesting
recipes.
In the
evening, a musical performance “Moscow Spiritual” will be held for the guests
of Pavilion No. 75. In Hall A in the space of the city of Moscow, visitors will
hear a program of heartfelt songs for a festive evening on Easter Sunday from
the leading creative team of Moscow - Orpheus Academic Vocal Studio.
