At the case study session "Eventful Russia. Events as a Reason to Go on a Trip" the guests were told about the impact of holding colorful festivals and events in Russian regions on the tourism industry and economy.

"With the development of domestic tourism, Russian regions began to compete more actively for the attention of the domestic traveler. Various events have become a good support for increasing the tourist flow. Now a tourist often goes on a trip not so much with a contemplative purpose, but with a learning one. Their objective is not just to see the architectural and natural beauty of the region, but also to focus on some new experience and knowledge, and events of different focus contribute to this," said the moderator of the session, managing partner of the Sharmol company, a member of the jury of the International Prize Russian Event Awards Igor Lyutenko.

The experience of development of territories with the help of tourism industry was shared by Larisa Lunkova, Deputy Head of Kolomna Urban District Administration of the Moscow region.

"We should talk about Kolomna as the core of the municipality. Kolomna itself as the core of the urban district is a little more than 100 thousand people. And with 100 thousand population, our tourist flow for 2023 increased to the mark of 1.8 million people. In the first five months of this year, the tourist flow has already exceeded the mark of 800 thousand people. At the same time, there are not enough mass accommodation facilities for such a serious tourist flow - now there are 32 of them. During the year we hold more than 25 major events. According to the results of 2023, the share of tourism in the economy of the Kolomna Urban District amounted to about 8% - this is a serious indicator," said Larisa Lunkova.

Also, the case session was attended by Dmitry Vitkovsky, CEO of "Fontanka.ru", producer of the festival "Fontanka SUP", Anton Talalov, Head of Administration of Birsky District of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Oleg Yukovich, Vice-President of the Interregional Public Organization for Assistance to the Development of Military Historical Reconstruction "Valor of the Ages" and Daria Yarkova, Deputy Director — Head of the direction "Tourism" of the ANO "Monchegorsk Development Agency".
