Pavel Smirnov Orchestra of Bayanists and Accordionists performed at the RUSSIA EXPO
On the Main Stage of the Exposition as part of the XXII International Bayan Competition "Vivat, Bayan!", world-famous musical works were performed by the Pavel Smirnov Orchestra of Bayanists and Accordionists and the renowned Serbian musician Petar Martic.
The guests heard a unique combination of bayan and accordion sounds, which gave a new and original sound to well-known melodies — "Russian Blizzard" by Anatoly Shalaev, "Eternal Motion" by Johann Strauss, "Girl's Suffering" by Viktor Novikov and other compositions.
"We presented the audience a fascinating program, which I hope they enjoyed. Petar Martic, a talented musician from Serbia, also performed on this stage. Today we heard well-known compositions in his arrangement — it is absolutely amazing! He is a wonderful musician. We are happy to work at one concert with such a master," said Vladimir Smirnov, the chief conductor of the Pavel Smirnov Orchestra.
The XXII International Competition of Bayanists "Vivat, Bayan!" started at the Exposition on June 25. This year its participants are expected to have busy competition days in 28 musical categories. The competent jury - professors of Russian and international higher educational institutions of musical profile — will choose the best masters of performing art in younger and older age groups. The contest events will last until June 29.
"I think that holding the XXII International Competition of Bayanists "Vivat, Bayan!" within the framework of the Exposition is very important for the promotion of this musical instrument. Different regions and cultures are represented during the contest, a huge number of spectators gathered here," Vladimir Smirnov added.
