On 13 August 2025, the Kostroma region celebrates the 81st anniversary of its founding. On this day in 1944, the corresponding decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR was issued.

Governor Sergei Sitnikov, in a conversation with the press office of the National Centre RUSSIA, highlighted the dynamic development of the region, made possible by its powerful industrial sector and the harmonious combination of a rich historical and cultural legacy with modern economic achievements.

"The Kostroma region is ancient Russian land. It was here, in the Ipatiev Monastery — the cradle of the Romanov dynasty — that the fate of the Russian state was decided. Our land is the home of the Snow Maiden, where Alexander Ostrovsky wrote his fairy tale. It is the jewellery capital of Russia, where domestic jewellery production is concentrated. The 'Kostroma Cheese' brand is a symbol of quality and is actively developing, including in export markets," Sergei Sitnikov emphasised.

According to the governor, the region possesses unique potential, while its proximity to Moscow ensures excellent logistics.

"Just four hours on the high-speed ‘Lastochka’ train and you find yourself on the banks of the great Russian river Volga, enjoying views of ancient architecture and picturesque landscapes. All this creates the unique atmosphere of authentic Russia," Sergei Sitnikov added.

Visitors can discover the beauty and achievements of the Kostroma region at the "Journey Across Russia" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA. The region is represented within the Central Federal District. Modern multimedia technologies — virtual reality systems, interactive screens with educational content, and detailed infographics — allow guests to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of this land.

Admission to the "Journey Across Russia" exposition is free for all visitors with prior registration. More detailed information about the exposition, including the schedule of guided tours, is available in the "Events" section on the official website of the National Centre RUSSIA.
