The National Centre RUSSIA congratulates the Komi Republic on its Region Day

The National Centre RUSSIA congratulates the Komi Republic on its Region Day
08.22.2025

The Komi Republic celebrates the 104th anniversary of its foundation on 22 August. On this day in 1921 it was established as an autonomous area.

The Komi Republic is part of the Northwestern Federal District, which is presented at the "Journey Across Russia" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA. The exposition immerses visitors in history and showcases the cultural legacy, natural wealth, and the region’s scientific and technological achievements.

"Our republic has a heroic history — we are the birthplace of Russian oil production, and during the Great Patriotic War our coal practically replaced that of Donbass, which was occupied by the Nazis. The unique natural resources of the Subpolar Urals, powerful industry, distinctive culture of the people and centuries-old traditions — all of this is the wealth of the republic, and it attracted the attention of visitors during the International RUSSIA EXPO," said the Head of the Komi Republic, Rostislav Goldstein.

According to him, the distinctive feature of the region is its people, shaped by life in the North — resilient and responsive, hardworking and honest, they put every effort into ensuring the prosperity of their homeland and of Russia. He believes that the indigenous peoples of Komi, oil and gas workers, scientists and cultural figures have made the republic one of the flagships of the country’s northern development.

"Thanks to the 'Journey Across Russia' exposition, more and more people are discovering the beauty and potential of our land — from the boundless taiga to modern industrial centres. This attention to Komi is truly valuable," added Rostislav Goldstein.

Visitors can join guided tours of the "Journey Across Russia" exposition free of charge by registering in advance. All details are available in the "Events" section of the National Centre RUSSIA website.
