The National Centre RUSSIA congratulates the residents of the Republic of Adygea on Region Day
On 5 October, the Republic of Adygea celebrates the day of its formation — a holiday symbolising more than a century of history inseparably linked with the fate of Russia. The National Centre RUSSIA joins in the congratulations and wishes the residents of the republic peace, prosperity, and well-being.
The Adyghe Autonomous Area was established in 1922 by a decree of the Presidium of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee. The region received the status of a republic within Russia on 3 July 1991. At the same time, the settlement of this territory began long before our era: writers of Ancient Greece mentioned the ancestors of modern Adyghe people in their works.
The Head of the Republic of Adygea, Murat Kumpilov, in an interview with the Press Office of the National Centre RUSSIA, highlighted the unique natural and historical richness of his homeland: "Adygea is a region with an ancient history, rich culture, distinctive traditions, and unique nature. The Adyghe people have lived on this beautiful land since ancient times, and today, representatives of more than 120 nationalities and all major faiths coexist here in peace and harmony."
He also recalled the cultural heritage that has become the hallmark of the region.
"We are the birthplace of Adyghe cheese, the Cherkesska, and the Narts epic, which dates back to the same era as the ‘Iliad’ and the ‘Odyssey’. We hope that the ‘Journey Across Russia’ exposition will introduce our republic to as many people as possible — those who will want to visit Adygea, taste traditional Adyghe dishes, explore cultural and archaeological monuments, and experience the warmth and hospitality of our people. We always welcome guests!" added Murat Kumpilov.
The Republic of Adygea is an important part of the Southern Federal District, widely represented at the "Journey Across Russia" exposition alongside other districts of the country. The exposition allows residents and guests of the National Centre RUSSIA to discover the diversity and beauty of this land with its ancient culture and rich traditions of hospitality.
