The National Centre RUSSIA congratulates the people of the Republic of Tuva on Region Day
On 15 August, the Republic of Tuva celebrates its Region Day. This year marks the 104th anniversary of its founding. On this day in 1921, the first Constitution was adopted, marking the start of the region’s parliamentary development.
"Our republic has a remarkable history, rich nature, unique culture and traditions. This attracted millions of visitors to our stand during the RUSSIA EXPO. Most importantly, we have talented, hardworking people who make every effort to ensure the prosperity of their native land and our great multinational country. Now, thanks to the "Journey Across Russia" exposition, Tuva continues to be discovered both by our fellow citizens and by guests from all over the world. This attention is truly valuable," said Vladislav Khovalyg, Head of the Republic of Tuva.
The Republic of Tuva is part of the Siberian Federal District, which is represented at the "Journey Across Russia " exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA. The display features the symbol of happiness of the Tuvan people — the endless knot "udazyn". This is one of the most common ornamental motifs in Tuvan applied arts.
In addition, the exposition includes an interactive area where visitors can place markers with landmarks of the Siberian Federal District on a multimedia surface, among them the "Centre of Asia" obelisk.
"This monument is located in Kyzyl, the capital of Tuva, on the left bank of the Yenisei. It is one of the iconic structures of the republic. The first obelisk was erected in 1964, with its opening timed to the 20th anniversary of Tuva’s accession to the Soviet Union," said Olga Ignatieva, a guide at the National Centre RUSSIA.
The monument symbolises the geographical and cultural connection of the various peoples living in Central Asia.
Guided tours of the "Journey Across Russia" exposition are free of charge by prior registration. Full details are available on the National Centre RUSSIA website in the "Events" section.
