The National Centre RUSSIA invites young people to participate in the All-Russian Video Essay Competition "Dreams of the Future"

The National Centre RUSSIA is launching the All-Russian Video Essay Competition "Dreams of the Future." This initiative will help the younger generation not only look beyond the horizon but also reflect on tomorrow through the lens of science fiction. The competition continues the large-scale work of the National Centre in designing the future and promoting the science fiction genre among young people, which began as part of the International Symposium "Inventing the Future."

To participate, teams of five like-minded individuals must be formed within one of two age categories: 14 – 16 or 17 – 18 years old. Each team must have a mentor — a teacher or a parent of one of the participants. Team registration will take place from March 10 to April 10.

The competition task is to create a video essay that begins with the words: "We want to create a future where...". The video should not only reflect the team's vision but also include references to science fiction works that inspired them. A recommended book list, prepared in collaboration with the Russian State Library for Young Adults and the Council for Science Fiction and Adventure Literature of the Union of Writers of Russia, is available on the competition page at dream.russia.ru. Completed works can be uploaded to the website from March 24 to April 24.

The expert jury will evaluate the entries based on five criteria: relevance to the competition theme, technical quality, originality, artistic presentation, and use of scientific facts. A total of 20 teams — 10 from each age category — will reach the finals, with six teams becoming winners and prize recipients.

On June 1, International Children's Day, the National Centre RUSSIA will host a grand award ceremony. The winners will receive valuable prizes and have their ideas promoted at the federal level.

The competition's literary partner is the Eksmo-AST publishing group, while the official bookstore network is the federal chain Chitai-Gorod. The social content partner is "YOUF – Your Media About Reading."
