The National Centre RUSSIA to host «"Heroes of a Great Country"
Cinema as a tool for shaping culture, preserving history, and designing the future: on 11–12 February, the National Centre RUSSIA will host the forum and awards ceremony for the 3rd National Film Award "Heroes of a Great Country". The event will honour feature films, documentaries, animations, and series that shape the image of the modern hero.
532 projects were submitted for the film award, with 55 films and series being shortlisted. Among the chosen films are "Lilies of the Valley. Such Tender Love", "On the Edge of the Abyss", "Not on the List", "Red Silk", "Catherine the Great", "GDR", "Plevako", "Blood Type", "Doctor Vera", "In Love with Mathematics", "The Committee", and others.
The awards will be presented in 19 categories, including: "Heroes of Science and Technology", "Working Person", "Heroes — Builders of the Future", "Heroes of the Special Military Operation", "Heroes-Defenders", "Heroes of Education", "Family Heroes", as well as special categories "History and Meanings", "Service and Honour", and "Dreams of the Future". On 12 February, nominees of the film award will receive "Golden Stars" and a "Golden Gauntlet", and the winner of the "Big Golden Star" for the best film project will be announced.
The winners will be selected by a jury, taking into account the assessment of the works' reception and their influence on young audiences. The jury includes winners of the second film award, representatives of online platforms and TV channels, film industry experts, researchers, psychologists, and other professionals.
As part of the forum, panel discussions will be held where film industry professionals will join forces with representatives of science, education, government structures, and business circles. Participants will discuss important issues of the domestic film industry: what themes and characters are needed by the country and in demand by audiences today; how the psychology of the viewer works, whose tastes and habits were shaped by foreign film production; and where the line lies between being didactic and living drama.
One of the innovative aspects of the event will be work on the meanings of the future. Within the "Meaning Centres", forum attendees will discuss two important tracks: "Heroes and Cinematic Universes 2030" and "Values in Cinema and Content". Leading industry specialists and experts will focus on developing practical recommendations aimed at strengthening domestic cinema oriented towards traditional values, as well as creating morally rich products that should attract audiences both in Russia and abroad.
The "Heroes of a Great Country" film award serves to shape the culture and competencies for producing films and series with deep and high spiritual and moral content. Among the co-organisers and partners of the event are the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Cinematography "STRANA" (COUNTRY), the New Media Workshop, the "DNA of Russia" research project, leading media holdings and online platforms, the Movement of the First, the Ministry of Defence of Russia, Rossotrudnichestvo, FADN (House of the Peoples of Russia), and many others.
