The National Centre RUSSIA joins the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the federal districts
On May 13,
2025, the Russian Federation marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of
the federal districts. This historic stage in the country’s administrative
structure was initiated by a Presidential Decree of Vladimir Putin in 2000.
Along with the creation of the districts, the institution of Presidential
Plenipotentiary Representatives was introduced to ensure the implementation of
state policy, monitor the enforcement of federal legislation, and support
effective interaction between all levels of government.
Today, the Russian Federation comprises eight federal districts: Far Eastern, Siberian, Ural, Northwestern, Volga, Central, Southern, and North Caucasian. Each district is a unique combination of natural resources, cultural legacy, and economic potential. These achievements are reflected in the large-scale exposition "Journey Across Russia" at the National Centre RUSSIA.
Within just
an hour, visitors to the exposition can take an engaging journey through every
corner of the country. The exposition introduces guests to the history,
cultural traditions, economic achievements, and development prospects of each
federal district.
The exposition begins with the Far East, where visitors are greeted by the majestic landscapes of Kamchatka, the power of Pacific ports, and the fascinating underwater world of the Sea of Okhotsk. Siberia reveals its treasures: boundless taiga expanses, healing lakes, modern ski resorts, and some of the richest mineral deposits in the country.
The Ural
Federal District presents unique minerals and gemstones, as well as showcases
the nation’s oil and gas and metallurgical industries. In the Volga region,
guests are welcomed by a high-tech guide — the robot Max, who talks about the
achievements of Russian IT specialists. A particular highlight is an interactive
exhibit — a KamAZ truck with a 5D cinema.
The
Northwestern District invites visitors into the miniature world of the
Mariinsky Theatre, where they can experience the magic of one of Russia’s
oldest theatres. Central Russia is represented by routes along the Golden Ring
and cities of the future featuring innovative smart infrastructure.
The North
Caucasus reveals the beauty of the Samur Forest — a unique nature reserve in
Dagestan — and offers insights into the traditional way of life of mountain
peoples. The Southern District highlights recent sports achievements and
displays artefacts from ancient Chersonese.
All
expositions are enhanced with modern technology: virtual reality, video content
and infographics, creating a fully immersive experience. Advance registration
is required to attend. You can sign up on the website russia.ru in the
"Events" section.
