"Today's population is the most educated in history": Wang Feng at the National Centre RUSSIA
In the current global reality, the world is facing unprecedented population ageing and declining birth rates. At the same time, people today differ significantly from previous generations. Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of Russia, Maxim Oreshkin, and Wang Feng, Professor of Sociology at the University of California (USA), discussed global demographic trends, population ageing, urbanisation, and the impact of technology on the labour market and social policy in the Open Dialogue podcast "OD on Air".
"Birth rates are low, and population ageing is unprecedented in human history. But today’s population is fundamentally different. Across the world — not only in developed countries — it is the most educated population in history, with greater innovative potential, higher productivity and better health," said Wang Feng.
The podcast with the expert was recorded during the January Expert Dialogues, which form part of the Open Dialogue event series. The initiative was launched by the National Centre RUSSIA in partnership with the Centre for Cross-Industry Expertise "Third Rome", with the support of the Presidential Executive Office of Russia.
