The National Centre RUSSIA and "Fashionable Russia": how creative industries are transforming the regions
As part of Russian Creative Week, the National Centre RUSSIA hosted a public talk on 25 September with the creators and protagonists of the first media ecosystem, "Fashionable Russia". The discussion featured Varvara Aleksandrova, Creative Producer of the project; Nelly Badalyan, Deputy Director General for Communications at ANO "Creative Economy"; and Marius Matas, Creative Director of the Department Store RUSSIA project.
"The Department Store RUSSIA works closely with regional brands in different categories. Today we are known in every region of the country. We support small producers whose names are sometimes not even recognised in their own regions. Thanks to the Department Store they have the opportunity to present their products to the whole country and invest in further development," said Marius Matas.
The "Fashionable Russia" project combines travel shows, business interviews and online communities, telling the stories of people who are transforming their cities through creativity, ideas and new meanings. The project has already gathered over 40 stories from 10 regions. Each one demonstrates how creative industries generate jobs, build communities, and change the way Russian regions are perceived on the world map.
The strategy of regional and municipal leadership based on traditional sectors of the economy is undergoing change.
The VI Federal Forum-Festival "Russian Creative Week" is taking place at the National Centre RUSSIA.
