Russian designer Artemii Lebedev held an expert panel "Design in Digital" at the RUSSIA EXPO. He spoke about the role of neural networks in the development of the digital economy and why they will never replace humans.

Artemii Lebedev noted that now the computer has become not just a performer, but an interlocutor who can offer solutions to certain problems. According to him, artificial intelligence and neural networks have rid people of routine, freed them a large amount of time and have become a common element of reality.

At the same time, the designer urged to treat artificial intelligence sensibly and not to assume that neural networks have intelligence and infinite knowledge. According to him, they can’t exceed the human level, because they learn on the already accumulated array of information.

"The ability of the human brain to come up with ideas is irreplaceable. No one, no machine can replace a human in this. Therefore, we can relax - neural networks will not deprive us of work," believes Artemii Lebedev.

According to him, technology is becoming a tool that allows you to save time when working with routine but necessary things. For example, now you don't have to learn to draw for a long time to create a picture that can influence the audience. Thus, the threshold of entry into creative professions is lowered - and the number of people who are able to communicate their vision to others is growing.

"If you have a poetic gift and you put words together well, you can describe something in such a way that an image is formed in the viewer's, the listener's mind. Before, it used to be good writers and poets. They put words together in such a way that when we read them, we have our own pictures in our head: our own neural network generates them according to the verbal description. And now there's just the small matter left to be resolved - to teach some other mechanical system to do it for us. The hardest thing about creativity is conveying meaning and emotion. Everything that concerns automation, new technologies is needed only to solve this task. The task is eternal, the need is eternal," said Artemii Lebedev.

At the same time, the presence of technology does not replace creativity - that's why neural networks are worthless in themselves if they are used without the need to convey meaning, the designer noted. However, he pointed out that we should be happy that we live in such a wonderful time, a time that previous generations could not even dream of.
