New uniform of the national football team presented at the RUSSIA EXPO
The presentation of the new uniform of the Russian national
football team was held at the RUSSIA EXPO. Football legends and players of
today's Russian national teams (first, women's, youth and junior teams),
players of the Youth Football League and even schoolchildren who practice
football within the framework of the Football at School project took the stage.
During the
presentation, the guests of the RUSSIA EXPO saw the uniforms in which the USSR
and Russian national football teams achieved the highest successes in their
history: gold at the 1956 Olympics and 1988 Olympics, victory at Euro 1960,
silver medals at the 1964, 1972 and 1988 European Championships, bronze at the
1966 World Cup, third place at the 2008 European Championship, as well as
reaching the quarterfinals of the home World Cup in 2018.
"The
presentation of the new national team uniform is definitely a very important
event for the RFU, fans, and the entire football community. The national
team uniform is not just a shirt in which the players will take to the field.
The uniform has a symbolic meaning. For the players it symbolizes the
recognition of their merits in football, their talent, but at the same time it
is a huge responsibility to the fans, teammates, to the country. Today we have
veterans of the national team with us, they can talk about the emotions they
felt when they went out in the national team uniform on the field to the anthem
and gained victories, which the whole country is proud of. For young players,
the national team uniform is a benchmark and a powerful incentive for hard
work. The desire to play in a national team shirt as part of the national team
should inspire them to train hard and develop their talent," said Russian
Football Union president Alexander Dyukov.
"I want
to thank the Russian Football Union and personally Alexander Dyukov for
choosing the venue of the presentation of the new uniform of the Russian
national team to be the venue of the RUSSIA EXPO, where the most important
achievements of our country are presented and where the future is born. In
the presentation you reminded all of us how many great achievements our great
country has thanks to our great people and how many more there will be,"
said Natalia Virtuozova, Director General of the ANO «Directorate of the
Exhibition of Achievements "Russia"».
Natalia
Virtuozova also emphasized that the eight millionth visitor to the RUSSIA EXPO,
received tickets to the Russia-Serbia football match as a gift.
"I
express my gratitude to the Russian Football Union, which supported us in our
tradition of congratulating the Exposition's anniversary guests. On
March 6, 14-year-old Vadim Leizer from Tyumen not only became our eight
millionth guest, but also, together with his family, received a gift
certificate to attend the match between Russia and Serbia, which will be held
in Moscow very soon. This was a real miracle for him. And we believe that
thanks to his hard work Vadim will also one day wear the uniform of the Russian
national team," Natalia Virtuozova added.
The home kit of the uniform is made in traditional red colors. The uniform has a pattern in the form of stylized shining feathers of a folk folklore character - the Firebird, which, decorating the chest, symbolize the ardent hearts of the players.
The away
uniform, in light colors, is inspired by the element of frost. The
pattern simultaneously reminds both of marvelous frost patterns on the windows
and the enchanting beauty of ice on rivers and lakes, but at the same time - of
cold calculation and unbreakable fortitude, - says the description of the new
kits on the website of the uniform manufacturer.
In March,
the Russian national team will play friendly matches against Serbia and
Paraguay in the new uniforms. The match with the Serbs will be held on
March 21, with Paraguay - on March 25. Both matches will be held in Moscow at
the VTB Arena.
The large-scale "Journey Across Russia" project will launch at the National Centre RUSSIA on March 1.
On March 1, the National Centre RUSSIA will launch a new large-scale project, "Journey Across Russia."
From February 21 to 23, the National Centre RUSSIA will host the III International Documentary Film Festival "RT.DOC: The Time of Our Heroes."
