New brands and striking details: the updated Department Store RUSSIA opens the summer season
The summer season at Department Store RUSSIA is being welcomed in the style of an old merchant estate. The atmosphere that guests have come to love is gaining a new dimension: familiar motifs are joined by fresh ideas, contemporary Russian brands and details that create the feeling of a summer retreat — a quiet garden, unhurried tea drinking and warm hospitality.
The centre of the summer exposition is an "estate drawing room" and garden. Here, under the imagined shade of trees, wicker chairs from the Leningrad Region are arranged. Natural material, handcraftsmanship and laconic design make these items both traditional and remarkably relevant: they could easily be imagined on the veranda of a country house or on a city balcony.
A bright accent appears on the table in this garden — a watermelon created by masters from the Astrakhan Regional Research and Methodological Centre for Folk Culture. This handmade felt souvenir, warm and textured, works as a decorative object that can adorn both a summer table and an interior as a whole. The image of the watermelon refers to Astrakhan summer, abundance and the joy of a simple seasonal treat.
Nearby, a scene of merchant-style tea drinking unfolds. A Dulevo porcelain tea set from the Moscow Region, made in a noble shade of blue, sets the tone for the entire composition. The deep colour, recognisable ornament and classic porcelain forms create the feeling of an old tradition continuing in a way adapted to the present day. Such a tea set would look at home both in a historical interior and in a modern city apartment.
Crystal pieces from the Gusev Crystal Factory in the Vladimir Region add light and movement. Glasses and vases created according to long-standing traditions of craftsmanship catch the sunlight and heighten the sense of celebration. In this space, each item works not only as something functional, but also as an element of living decoration, reminding visitors that the culture of everyday life is also part of the larger story of Russia.
The summer season at Department Store RUSSIA is an opportunity to see how the motifs of a merchant estate and the Russian provinces are reinterpreted in contemporary design. New Russian brands inspired by regional traditions appear in the exposition, ranging from textiles and clothing to accessories and homeware. They are united by attention to quality, material and imagery, in which classic motifs take on a new sound.
In addition, this summer guests can expect new collections from Russian brands, small thematic updates to the display windows and a special mood — in the spirit of merchant hospitality and respect for traditions that continue to live in modern forms.
