The common goal is to preserve national unity amid sanctions and information attacks
Interethnic peace and interfaith harmony as the foundation of Russia’s future will be discussed at the "Community" forum of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, to be held on 31 October – 1 November in Moscow.
The thematic session will be moderated by Vladimir Zorin, Chair of the Civic Chamber Commission on Interethnic and Interfaith Relations and Migration. The discussion will bring together members of the Civic Chamber, regional public chambers, experts in national policy, media representatives, bloggers, and heads of national cultural centres.
The discussion will focus on Russia’s historical experience in preserving its peoples, strengthening civil society, and promoting public diplomacy amid the information attacks from the collective West.
Organisers emphasise that under current conditions, there is growing interest in studying and replicating best practices in the sphere of interethnic relations, providing resources for the ethnocultural sector, and improving its infrastructure. The theme of maintaining interethnic and interfaith peace and harmony within the country takes on new depth, as it is directly linked to the task of consolidating society during the special military operation.
"We live in a unique country with an incredibly rich diversity of cultures and religious traditions. Unfortunately, both history and modern times have shown many examples where differences become sources of discord, and it is crucial to reverse this trend. The goal of the annual forums is to build a civil society based on solidarity, mutual assistance and respect. It is an inspiring event where people from different fields come together to unite their efforts for common goals, align their work, and continue making society better through their action," said Vladimir Zorin.
According to him, the issues of strengthening the unity of Russia’s multinational people are becoming increasingly significant in light of sanction pressure, attempts to undermine interethnic harmony and divide young people, and efforts to sow discord among the nation’s peoples. Participants of the round table will discuss ways to strengthen Russia’s ethnocultural sovereignty, preserve traditions, and reinforce unity of the Russian nation.
It should be noted that in 2025 the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation will mark its 20th anniversary. The "Community" forum is the key event of the jubilee year. It will be held ahead of the National Unity Day, on 31 October – 1 November, in Moscow at the National Centre RUSSIA (14 Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment, Building 18).
The theme of the forum is "Institutions of Civil Society: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow".
Participation is free. To attend in person, registration is required by 27 October.
