An orchestra of one hundred bayan, squeezebox and accordion players will perform the song “Katyusha” at the RUSSIA EXPO
On May 8 at
the RUSSIA EXPO, the presentation of the International Bayan Players Competition “Vivat, Bayan!” will take place.
More than
one hundred participants of the contest, including bayan (Russian accordion),
squeezebox and accordion players, will march along the main avenue of VDNH and
collectively perform the composition “Katyusha”. The event will start at 12:00
at the fountain “Stone Flower”.
The
performance of the famous instrumental duet “Bayan Mix” will also be part of
the event. Its members Sergei Voitenko and Rinat Demayev will perform popular
compositions, including “Smuglyanka” ("Dusky Girl"), “Ice Ceiling”,
“Nothing in the World is Better”, “Chardash”, as well as folk and patriotic
works. The concert will begin at 12:30 on the Main Street Stage of the
Exposition.
The contest
“Vivat, Bayan!” will be held for the 22nd time from June 25 to 29. The venue
will be Pavilion No. 55 “Home of Youth”. The artistic director of the event
will be Sergei Voitenko, a famous Russian musician, winner of “Chanson of the
Year”, “Golden Gramophone”, “Stars of the Road Radio”.
The
International RUSSIA EXPO is the most important achievements of the country
gathered in one place. Throughout the Exposition, cultural events, a rich
business and educational program await the guests. The expositions of 89
Russian regions, leading federal agencies, corporations and public
organizations are presented to the visitors. More than 12 million people have
already visited the Exposition. The International RUSSIA EXPO takes place at
VDNH in Moscow from November 4 to July 8.
