An island in the ocean, seals and a mud volcano: Sakhalin welcomes guests at the RUSSIA EXPO
For those who adore adventure, outdoor activities and
incredible nature, a trip to Sakhalin is surely a dream come true. After all,
the region is famous for its picturesque tourist routes. You can learn more
about the mysterious island at the RUSSIA EXPO.
At the exposition of Sakhalin, guests are greeted by
impressive sea scenes — a huge screen broadcasts video from the sea expanses.
One can see giant whales or a rookery of charming seals. By the way, in honor
of the Year of the Family, a new art object appeared at the stand - eagles
Vasily and Efrosinya. Steller's sea eagle is the largest feathered fish-eating
predator of the planet and the largest bird of prey in the Northern Hemisphere.
In addition, eagles are monogamous birds that create one pair for life.
Also, at the Sakhalin stand there are masterclasses and quizzes, and for children there is a wonderful entertainment — twister, though not ordinary, but the sea one. You can not only play, but also study marine mammals: whales, beluga whales and other species.
The guests, who have already managed to appreciate the
expositions of the region, confess that now they dream to visit the island and
swim in two seas at once: the Okhotsk and Japanese seas. Sakhalin is also a
paradise for fishermen, where you can catch smelt and flounder, pike and even
salmon, as well as crabs and shrimps. Not surprisingly, local seafood deserves
special attention — it is a real paradise for gourmets.
But the main thing is, of course, the nature. Picturesque
bays, majestic Cape Velikan (Cape Giant) and Cape Ptichiy (Birds Cape), blue
lakes and the famous Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk mud volcano. And in the Poronaysky State
Nature Reserve you can see long-eared seals, harbor seals' rookeries and a bird
market.
