The Ministry of Culture's Industry Day opened with the awarding of the Fyodor Volkov Prize for Contribution to the Development of Theater Art
The ceremony
of awarding the winners of the Fyodor Volkov Prize for Contribution to the
Development of Theater Art for 2023 took place at the RUSSIA EXPO as part of
the Day of Culture. The awards were presented by Deputy Prime Minister of the
Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova.
"It
has become a good tradition that we hold the most significant events here, at
the RUSSIA EXPO, which demonstrates the achievements of our country. Today is a
special day for culture - not only the flagship Pavilion No. 75, but also many
other pavilions will demonstrate their involvement in this wonderful sphere,
which, in fact, shapes a person," said Tatyana Golikova.
According
to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Russian theater is a unique phenomenon in the
world theatrical life, there is no such thing anywhere else.
"We
are very proud of it. And of course, systematic support for theater art is one
of our key priorities. And it is important that the audience responds to this
work: the beginning of 2024 broke a kind of record - the number of visits to
federal theaters increased by 18%, we returned to the pre-pandemic period and
we see that attention to the theater is increasing. An additional incentive is
the Pushkin Card - many theaters have joined this program, thus attracting young
spectators aged 14 to 22 to their halls," said Tatyana Golikova.
The winners
of the Award were:
- Mytishchi
puppet theater "Ognivo" named after S. Zhelezkin. The award on behalf
of the team was received the artistic director of the theater Alexei Gushchuk;
- State
Russian Drama Theater (Republic of Chuvashia). Dmitry Kapustin, director of the
theater, received the award on behalf of the team;
- leading
ballet soloist of the Boris Eifman St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theater
Lyubov Andreeva.
The
Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova noted that the name of Fyodor Volkov is
associated with the beginning of the entire dramatic art of the country,
regular repertory theater, and the very first winner of the Prize was the
Volkov Theater itself.
"This year marks the anniversary of Fyodor Grigorievich Volkov, and next year is the 275th anniversary of the Volkov Theater, and it is symbolic that we started our Industry Day at the RUSSIA EXPO precisely with the presentation of this Prize. All of today's laureates are united by one thing - an unconditional love for the theater, for their work and for culture. I wish them all new creative victories and success!" said Olga Lyubimova.
The International RUSSIA EXPO is the most important achievements of the country gathered in one place. During the whole period of the Exposition, guests are welcomed with cultural events, a rich business and educational program. The expositions of 89 Russian regions, leading federal departments, corporations and public organizations are presented to the visitors.
