"Expectations of Russia matched reality": journalists from African countries visited the exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA
Journalists participating in the special educational exchange programme by RT Academy visited the National Centre RUSSIA. A total of 27 media professionals from 14 African countries — Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Nigeria, the Central African Republic, the Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, Ghana, and Namibia — took part in a guided tour of the "Journey Across Russia" exposition. During the visit, they saw the country's key landmarks and technological achievements and explored the culture and traditions of all federal districts of Russia.
Among the participants were representatives of leading African media outlets, who shared their impressions.
"What I remember most are the expositions dedicated to technology, scientific development, and research. I love science. I had never been to Russia before, and I really liked the diversity presented at the exposition — the kind of diversity that is typical of this country," said Frezer Admas, a journalist from Ethiopia.
Lydia Kiomukama, a journalist from Uganda, said she hopes to return to Russia in winter, as she dreams of seeing snow.
"My expectations matched reality — what we had heard about Russia is exactly what we saw here. I was impressed by the exposition areas showing snow-capped mountains and the beaches of Crimea. I really liked the traditional costumes — they are very beautiful," Lydia Kiomukama noted.
Hilda Namara, also a journalist from Uganda, visited Russia for the first time, fulfilling a long-time dream.
"You have a wonderful country. The National Centre RUSSIA is a place where you can explore all of its different corners. I would love to visit more places and see the natural landmarks with my own eyes. I’m very happy that we had such an exciting tour," Hilda Namara shared.
The African media professionals also noted the use of modern interactive technologies — virtual reality, video content, and infographics. They said they would recommend visiting the "Journey Across Russia" exposition to their friends, relatives, and colleagues who are planning a trip to Moscow.
The RT Academy educational exchange programme is organised within the framework of the "New Generation" initiative in cooperation with Rossotrudnichestvo.
