The winners of the "For a Safe Digital Childhood" award were honored at the V Youth Digital Forum at the National Centre RUSSIA
On April 2,
the National Centre RUSSIA hosted the award ceremony for the winners of the
"For a Safe Digital Childhood" prize. The event was organized by the
Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment. Held for
the third time, the competition continues to support projects aimed at
fostering the safe and responsible use of digital technologies by children.
"The
Alliance's active support for new projects helps unite society in the face of
information threats, bridge the 'digital divide' between generations, and
preserve our unique cultural code," said Sergei Kiriyenko, Deputy Chief of
Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation, in his
address to the participants.
This year,
applications for the "For a Safe Digital Childhood" award were
submitted from all regions of the country, as well as from the Republic of
Belarus.
Awards were presented to the winners in four categories. The winner in the "Family Digital Security" category was the board game project "Family Cyber Shield: Protection for Children" by the Kuvin family from Yekaterinburg. In the "Online Safety Lessons" category, the web quest "BEZopasnosti" ("NODanger") by Polina Cherkasova from the Nizhny Novgorod region took first place. A special prize from the Sferum information and communication educational service was awarded to Natalia Vorotova from the ANO "CCOD 'IT-Cube'" in Izhevsk. In the "Future of the Internet" category, the winning project was "White Hacker" by Alexander Kravchenko from the Moscow region. The title of "Best Expert Community Project" was awarded to the series "Bodo Borodo. IT" by Riki Group, Moscow.
The award
recipients received statuettes, commemorative diplomas, valuable prizes, and gifts
from partners and founding companies of the Alliance for the Protection of
Children in the Digital Environment.
As part of the award ceremony, a plenary session titled "Cybersecurity of Childhood: Challenges, Strategy, Cooperation" took place. The session's experts included: Tatyana Matveyeva, Head of the Presidential Directorate for the Development of Information and Communication Technologies and Communication Infrastructure of the Russian Federation; Irina Shvartsman, Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation; Yevgeny Khasin, Acting Director of the Department for Cybersecurity of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media of the Russian Federation; Yelizaveta Belyakova, Chair of the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment; Vladimir Tabak, Director General of ANO "Dialogue" and ANO "Dialogue Regions;" Dmitry Gulyaev, Youth Digital Ombudsman; Ruslan Yusufov, Founder and Managing Partner of MINDSMITH, expert in technological trends and information security.
"Our
main task is to develop a 'collective digital immunity' in the younger
generation. Currently, about a third of children believe that the Internet is a
safe environment and fully trust the information they find online. This is an area
for development for the state, parents, educational institutions, socially
responsible businesses, and civil society. We must teach children and teenagers
to think critically, identify risks, and respond to them correctly," noted
Tatyana Matveyeva, Head of the Presidential Directorate for the Development of
Information and Communication Technologies and Communication Infrastructure of
the Russian Federation.
The
discussion was continued by Irina Shvartsman, Deputy Minister of Education of
the Russian Federation.
"As
part of classroom activities, children are introduced to the basics of digital
literacy and security. They learn to recognize signs of fraud and protect
personal data through specific examples. Unfortunately, in today's world,
children encounter threats related to artificial intelligence. It is extremely
important that a child can recognize danger in time and seek help from parents
or a teacher," said Irina Shvartsman.
Yelizaveta
Belyakova, Chair of the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital
Environment, noted that technology is developing rapidly, and threats in the
digital space are becoming increasingly complex. However, it is precisely
innovative solutions that help protect children from unwanted content, online
fraud, and cyberattacks.
Vladimir
Tabak, Director General of ANO "Dialogue" and ANO "Dialogue
Regions," continued: "Deepfakes are a new iteration of fake content,
generated by artificial intelligence. This technology is relatively new, but it
is well known. Research conducted by ANO 'Dialogue Regions' has shown that 50%
of Russians are aware of deepfakes, and 41% have personally encountered them.
Some countries have already introduced mandatory labeling of deepfakes, and in
our country, more than 50% of people support the introduction of regulations. I
would like to emphasize that any regulation should also take into account the
positive aspects of AI-generated content rather than follow the path of a
complete ban."
The plenary
session addressed key challenges and solutions in the field of children's
cybersecurity. Speakers emphasized the importance of coordination between
government agencies, businesses, and public organizations to protect children
from cyber threats, including cyberbullying, fraud, access to unwanted content,
and deepfakes. Special attention was given to educational programs aimed at
improving digital literacy among children, parents, and educators.
