Lotus fields and Caspian Sea exploration: Astrakhan Region Day at the RUSSIA EXPO
To see the famous lotus fields with your own eyes and visit the capital of the Golden Horde — on the Day of the Region at VDNH a raffle of popular tours to the Astrakhan region is being held. The Governor of the Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin talked about tourist routes, as well as achievements in shipbuilding, energy and agro-industrial complex.
"By the decision of the President it was in the Astrakhan region that the Caspian cluster was formed, which combined the SEZ Lotos and the port special economic zone. The launch of the port zone will make the Caspian cluster a powerful cargo handling base for the North-South corridor, which will allow attracting additional cargo traffic in the Asian direction. Today, two residents are registered in the port zone: PLC Caspiy and Agroterminal Caspiy. It is planned to launch the facilities in the second half of 2024. Next year will be rich in the opening and development of major industrial projects in the region. Their realization is directly related to the work of the residents of SEZ Lotos", — emphasized Igor Babushkin.
There are 14 enterprises operating in the Astrakhan region within the Special Economic Zone of Industrial Production Type "Lotos" (SEZ Lotos). Emphasis is placed on shipbuilding and development of production facilities for the Caspian Sea shelf development. The volume of declared investments is about 27 billion rubles.
The head of the region said that for many years the region has been the leader among all the subjects of the Russian Federation in vegetable production and ranks first in the Southern Federal District in potato cultivation. Over the last 20 years the volume of cucurbit crops production has tripled.
"The Astrakhan region is making great strides in such a branch of agriculture as aquaculture. In 2022, the total volume of marketable sturgeon was about 1,300 tons. In pond fish farming the region is among the three leaders in the Southern Federal District and last year it produced about 20 thousand tons of products", — the governor noted.
The Astrakhan region is actively implementing "green" technologies. At the Exposition Igor Babushkin signed a cooperation agreement with LLC Unigreen Energy on the investment project of construction of solar power plants. Over the past five years, 12 solar power plants and a high-tech wind farm have already been built in the region.
One can get acquainted with the works of poet Velimir Khlebnikov and painter Boris Kustodiev in an interactive format, take photos with a camel in the game photo zone, and test their strength at a rally in the VR-zone.
In the "House of Russian Cuisine" Astrakhan brand-chef Ivan Negutarov and bakery shop technologist Natalia Yakovleva teach everyone to cook a sandwich with smoked lamprey, salad with russula mushrooms and sterlet, fried catfish steak with water walnut puree and traditional Astrakhan fish pie with pikeperch and cabbage.
The region presented fish products and canned fruits, berries and vegetables, including watermelons, at the farmers market.
