Ideal sports career — Olympic champion, two-time world
champion, three-time champion of Russia and Europe in ice dancing. But last
January, a sudden illness almost took Roman Kostomarov's life. He was in a
coma, doctors performed several operations on him and had to amputate his
limbs.
The prognosis for recovery was less than one percent. But he
survived. Thanks to the love and support of his family and loved ones, he did
not lose faith and took the path to recovery. And after 11 months, Roman again
took to the ice with his partner Tatiana Navka to perform their famous program
"Carmen", which brought them the Olympic gold medal. He, like his
bullfighter hero, was able to tame the disease and regain a full life.
The film is based on interviews with Roman Kostomarov
himself, his wife Oksana Domnina, mother, daughter, ice dancing partner Tatiana
Navka, friends, fellow athletes and doctors. Maxim Allanazarov, deputy
editor-in-chief of Sport-Express, acted as an interviewer. In total, more than
30 hours of interviews were filmed during the shooting. In addition, the movie
contains unique archive footage from Roman's life, as well as a chronicle of
his rehabilitation and return to the ice.
