Journalist, writer, Vice President of the Russian Radio Academy, President of Gazprom-Media Radio Yuri Kostin spoke to the guests of the RUSSIA EXPO about his professional path, and shared his opinion on the "competition" between radio and the Internet in the modern world.

"We have come to an agreement with smart speakers and gadgets to integrate radio there. We are trying to keep the interest in radio alive through technological ways, by entering different platforms. At the same time, I want to say that we are not competing with the Internet, we are not competing with search engines. We are primarily competing with music services. First of all, radio is a more successful business than streaming. There's a question of how much of the money that radio earns is invested, particularly in social projects. If we are talking about us, it is Children's Radio", said Yuri Kostin.

The journalist also spoke about how to properly work with news stories with professional ethics in mind. Using a concrete example, he compared representatives of Soviet and modern journalism.

"Soviet journalism had one big minus — there was censorship. But I always admired how journalists of that time, writers, musicians knew how to get out of this situation and what masterpieces they managed to create. At the same time, a huge advantage of journalism of the USSR was real knowledge and mastery of the material, practice on television or radio, which, unfortunately, modern journalists do not have quite enough of now, but they, it should be recognized, have much less prohibitive barriers than there used to be," Yuri Kostin is convinced.

During the meeting, the lecturer answered the guests' questions about radio, the profession, and shared some valuable advice. At the end of the event, Yuri Kostin presented his books to all those who asked him questions.
