Virtual reality walks: six pavilions of the RUSSIA EXPO can Be Visited in "MetaVDNH"
In the VDNH metaverse, you can embark on a virtual walk through six pavilions of the International RUSSIA EXPO. It was held at the country's main exposition venue from 4 November 2023 to 8 July 2024. Today, the legacy of the RUSSIA EXPO is widely presented at the National Centre RUSSIA, which also hosts large-scale expositions such as "Journey Across Russia" and "The Birth of Scale."
According to the Moscow Department of Information Technologies, everyone can view the expositions of the pavilions "SIBUR. House of Polymers," "Smart City," "First in Russia — Land of Opportunity," "Sber," "VEB.RF," and "Smart Finance" in "MetaVDNH". A virtual tour of the exposition-forum can last up to 60 minutes. Several people can be in each hall simultaneously. Inside "MetaVDNH", there is a map with digitized pavilions of the exposition-forum, which contains general information about the expositions.
"Creating virtual copies of exposition spaces is not only a way to convey educational and informative content, but also a new method of preserving history and promoting tourism and cultural projects. Over the eight months of the RUSSIA EXPO, it was visited by more than 18.5 million people. Now some of its pavilions continue to 'operate' in the metaverse. Interactive displays and information about them are available in the digitized buildings, and for full immersion, audio guides from the time of the exposition can be turned on in most halls. Thanks to the integration of virtual expositions into the metaverse, we can make large-scale events accessible to residents from all corners of the country, testing various formats of interactive projects with educational and historical content," stated the press office of the Moscow Department of Information Technologies (DIT).
In working on the virtual copies of the pavilions, developers preserved the informativity of the displays. Each hall offers video and audio accompaniment. Before starting the tour, each visitor can customize their avatar.
During a visit to "SIBUR. House of Polymers," guests learn about the creation and production of modern synthetic materials. Today, polymers are used to make gadgets, medical devices, pipes for public utilities with a lifespan of up to 100 years, electric vehicles, sports equipment, eco-friendly toys, and much more.
The 3D exposition "First in Russia — Land of Opportunity" tells about Russia's development and outstanding individuals who influenced the country’s history.
In the "Smart City" pavilion, guests can immerse themselves in an atmosphere of innovation and technology. Information about Moscow's digital projects and unique services accessible to every capital resident is presented in a clear format.
The digital exposition of the "Sber" pavilion tells about the history and development of the bank, the creation of an ecosystem of digital products and services for entertainment, health maintenance, and user education.
The pavilion "VEB.RF. Living Cities Come True!" in "MetaVDNH" narrates and shows how Russian cities and key sectors for their residents — medicine, education, transport, and housing and utilities — have changed.
The virtual exposition of the "Smart Finance" pavilion by the Bank of Russia tells about the evolution of technologies and services on the financial market.
To visit the pavilions of the RUSSIA EXPO, one must log in on the project website using Mos ID (the mos.ru portal account) and choose a convenient date and time to visit. The virtual copy can also be downloaded to your computer.
