Poignant truth and love for man: program for the centenary of Viktor Astafyev at the RUSSIA EXPO
Unique language, incredible acuity of perception, amazingly lively word — Viktor Astafyev's works are among the classics not only of the national but also of the world literature. To the centenary of the birth of our great writer, master of rural and military prose Viktor Petrovich Astafyev, the RUSSIA EXPO has prepared an anniversary program.
On the writer's birthday, May 1, the Cultural Projects Zone in Pavilion No. 75 will turn into a literary and musical living room decorated in rustic style. Here our guests will learn about the life and work of Viktor Astafyev, watch documentaries about the writer. And in the evening there will be readings of excerpts from the famous story "Tsar-fish" performed by honored artists of Russia Boris Galkin, Galina Ulyotova and Valery Ivanov-Tagansky.
On the eve of the anniversary actor Boris Galkin, who played the writer himself in the play "Cheerful Soldier" based on the autobiographical story of Viktor Astafyev, shared his memories of the writer and his understanding of Astafyev's word.
"How I want to thank God and the forces of heaven for these minutes of merging with the eternal and beautiful gift to love and cry! And in these words of Viktor Astafyev is his entire nature, personality, character. Each word of Viktor Astafyev is turned inside out, piercing truth. And its power is that it penetrates to the very depths of the heart. He wanted to embrace the whole country, all our Fatherland with his hot heart. As ardently as Viktor Petrovich loved the country, as bitterly did he feel the lies, sanctimony, pride, rank veneration. Love for Man and soul-crushing sorrow for the disappeared Man, when a man runs out of humanity — the writer very painfully experienced what was happening around him. And tried to accommodate everyone in his big hot heart. And with all his might he dragged the man upwards, so that the man strived for the light, tried to reach the divine," said Boris Galkin.
