The "Moscow Longevity" project, together with the National Centre RUSSIA, is launching two themed guided tours. Senior Muscovites can look forward to an introduction to a large-scale exposition of the country's achievements. Here, they will embark on a virtual journey from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad, as well as learn all about Russian architecture from various centuries.

"The 'Walking Lecture Hall' direction has remained one of the most popular activities of 'Moscow Longevity' for many years. This constant interest shown by senior Muscovites towards discovering their native city is supported by continually updating routes, adding new places of interest, and the professionalism of the guides. With this new feature — tours of the National Centre RUSSIA — participants will have the opportunity to go beyond the boundaries of Moscow and discover more about other regions of the country, its cultural legacy and history. In addition, they will get to know the largest exposition of the country's achievements, and later will be able to bring their own grandchildren and children here," said Vladimir Filippov, Deputy Head of the Moscow City Department of Labour and Social Protection.

Each tour programme includes an hour-long sightseeing walk around the city, followed by a visit to the exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA. The tours will be led by qualified guides.

Moscow City and Journey Across Russia

During the hour-long walking tour, the guide will take guests among the impressive towers of the Moscow International Business Centre, Moscow City. Here, participants will learn about the construction history of the complex, the architectural concepts of the skyscrapers, and will be immersed in the atmosphere of the past by hearing about the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov, built in the style of ancient Russian architecture.

After the sightseeing walk, guests will head to the National Centre for the "Journey Across Russia" exposition. Here, they can look forward to a virtual journey from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad. Visitors will be immersed in the world of Russia’s natural wonders, from the Shantar Islands to the Curonian Spit. Special attention is also devoted to the country's modern scientific projects. For example, participants will discover the intricacies of precious metal extraction, learn about the country's largest IT cluster, the Baikal Neutrino Observatory, and other innovative enterprises.

Tours take place on Tuesdays at 11:00, meeting point at Delovoy Tsentr metro station, exit 1. You may sign up for a group on the Mos.ru portal. If the link is inactive, it means the group for the nearest date is already full. The link for the next tour becomes active on Wednesdays.

The Surroundings of Krasnaya Presnya and Architecture Through the Ages

During the first part of the tour, guests will learn about points of interest in the surroundings adjacent to the National Centre — the Krasnaya Presnya park, the skyscraper on Kudrinskaya Square, the House of Government, and the World Trade Centre. Visitors will be introduced to the history of these buildings and the area, find out who used to live there, and learn how the historical development now neighbours the modern Moscow City complex.

Afterwards, participants will head to "The Birth of Scale" exposition, where they will explore the multifaceted and rich Russian architectural legacy of various epochs. The exposition is presented in several themed sections, which sequentially trace the evolution of architectural styles, from ancient wooden architectural traditions to contemporary innovative solutions. The unique combination of historical exhibits, detailed models, graphics, and interactive elements allows not only to see, but to experience the atmosphere of each epoch.

Tours are held on Thursdays at 11:00, meeting point at Delovoy Tsentr metro station, exit 5. You may sign up for a group on the Mos.ru portal. If the link is inactive, it means the group for the nearest date is already full. The link for the next tour becomes active on Fridays.

All interested senior Muscovites — women from the age of 55 and men from the age of 60 — are welcome to join the "Moscow Longevity" project and the "Walking Lecture Hall" guided tours. To do so, you can contact any Moscow Longevity centre or a My Documents state services centre, or register online via the mos.ru portal.
