Renewable energy, nuclear generation, gasification, electric transport development, and environmental programs. The participants of the round table "Sustainable Energy: an Environmentally Friendly Way to Develop the Fuel and Energy Complex", which was held at the RUSSIA EXPO, discussed how to achieve carbon neutrality no later than 2060.

"During the discussion, representatives of all sectors of the fuel and energy complex shared their achievements and plans in terms of achieving carbon neutrality. A constructive dialog was held regarding further prospects for reducing the carbon footprint in the fuel and energy complex of Russia, including the development of distributed generation and renewable energy sources in energy-isolated areas of the Far East and the Arctic, as well as the use of the best available technologies to reduce the negative impact of coal-fired energy generation on the environment," said the moderator of the round table, Director General of the Russian Energy Ministry's REA Alexei Kulapin.

Special attention was paid to the issue of carbon regulation. According to Alexei Kulapin, the country has created conditions for the development of the market of carbon units. A list of organizations that will conduct verification and validation of greenhouse gases has also been prepared.
