At the conference of employees and students of the National Research University Higher School of Economics held at the RUSSIA EXPO, Rector Nikita Anisimov made a presentation of the university's key achievements for the period from 2019 to 2023.

Today, Vyshka (colloquial name for NRU HSE) is a multidisciplinary university that successfully combines natural sciences and humanities. With more than 300 undergraduate and graduate programs, 21 of which are delivered fully online, HSE is showing impressive growth in student numbers from 2019 in all forms of study. HSE University provides a single educational platform across four cities, supporting inter-campus collaboration.

The contingent structure confirms Vyshka's ability to combine digital and humanities competencies. Computer Science and Engineering is the most in-demand major at the university (12,682 students enrolled in bachelor's, specialist and master's degree programs). The second place goes to "Creative Industries" (9,328 students), and "Economics" (7,902 students) takes the third place.

The great potential of the National Research University Higher School of Economics was noted by Sergei Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the NRU HSE, in his welcoming address.

"We live in an era when the future of the country depends on you, Russia relies on you. And you have everything to become co-creators of new achievements that people will be proud of. Be on the same wavelength with your country and set trends yourself. Take advantage of huge opportunities, get involved in all programs and projects, show your creative energy - shape the future of a strong, independent and modern Russia," Sergei Kiriyenko stressed.

Over the last five years the number of HSE graduates has increased by almost 50%. In 2023, the number of students graduating in computer science and engineering exceeded the number of graduates in economics by 86%. The university is highly regarded among employers, receiving high marks for the quality of its specialist training, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, being ranked first in the quality of specialist training by the "AI Alliance".

"We have a well-established system in which every student receives digital skills. And this is a great pride of our university," Nikita Anisimov emphasized.

Striving for the highest standards of education has made HSE the university of first choice among applicants, including winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Schoolchildren Olympiad.

"59% of winners and prize-winners of the 11th grade All-Russian Olympiad in socio-economic and humanities disciplines enroll at the Higher School of Economics. It is very pleasant and significant for us that the kids trust us and choose us," said Nikita Anisimov.

The university is notable for the high number of international students - more than five thousand students from different countries are studying at the bachelor's, specialist and master's degree programs.

The transition to large interdisciplinary projects, the preservation of unique centers of competencies and a significant increase in the volume of research and development (R&D) marked a new stage in the development of the university. The volume of R&D was increased more than one and a half times, with more than 50% of R&D revenues now earned on the open market.
