The science fiction of Ivan Yefremov continues to resonate strikingly with reality decades after his works first appeared. His books, scientific pursuits and the more mysterious chapters of his biography remain the subject of debate and fresh interpretations. Yevgeny Sazonov, Editor-in-Chief of the publishing house Komsomolskaya Pravda and Associate Professor at the Russian State University for the Humanities, invites visitors to explore the phenomenon of Ivan Yefremov and discuss his legacy at a meeting of the Literary Club "What to Read?!" at the National Centre RUSSIA on 20 August at 19:00.

"The upcoming meeting of the Literary Club 'What to Read?!' will be devoted to the most enigmatic and fascinating Soviet science-fiction writer and scientist, Ivan Antonovich Yefremov. How did he manage to foresee developments that are taking place in the world today? Where did he find his inspiration? What sources of hidden knowledge did he draw upon? Is it true that he may have been an extraterrestrial? You will get answers to all these questions on 20 August. Join us — it will be fascinating," says Yevgeny Sazonov.

The discussion will be moderated by philologist, cultural historian and writer Nikolai Zharinov. Participants will also include historian Nikolai Smirnov, co-author of the book "Ivan Yefremov" from the renowned "Lives of Remarkable People" series, and Sergei Volobuyev, Deputy General Director of ICS Consulting and Senior Research Fellow at the D. S. Likhachev Heritage Institute.

Guests will embark on a journey through Yefremov's works and discuss his ideas about the future, humanity and the development of civilisation. The discussion will be complemented by an interactive quiz, "Yefremov's Prediction or Twenty-First-Century Reality?", and will conclude with a question-and-answer session.

Advance registration is required to attend.
