The National Centre RUSSIA launched a series of meetings with the heads of constituent entities of the Russian Federation "Platform of the Future: Region-2030. 100 Steps". The first participant was Sergei Melikov, Head of the Republic of Dagestan.

One of the central topics was the development of the tourism sector and the improvement of the quality of life in the region. Sergei Melikov emphasised that the Government of Russia provides systemic support to the republic in implementing the large-scale Caspian Coastal Cluster project, which is part of the presidential programme "Five Seas and Water Bodies".

"As of today, 16 residents — investors — have been registered, who are ready to invest in the development of this project. The main operator has been designated — the Republic of Dagestan. Together with us, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and the corporation 'Caucasus.RF' are actively working. It is this corporation that has taken on the main and very difficult task — creating the infrastructure for the development of the Caspian Coastal Cluster," noted Sergei Melikov.

This involves the construction of energy and water networks, treatment facilities, roads and other elements of engineering and social infrastructure. The republic provides the land, the federal centre is responsible for building the infrastructure, and private investors are constructing hotels and tourist facilities.

"This is a large territory: the promenade along the sea alone will stretch for more than six kilometres. Along the first line, hotel complexes of various categories will be built — from premium-class to affordable three- and four-star hotels for middle-class families. Further inland, entertainment and sports facilities as well as housing for support staff are planned. All this will provide a large number of new jobs for the people of Dagestan," emphasised the head of the republic.

According to Melikov, the project envisages a unified architectural concept, landscaping, and the creation of coastal infrastructure — quay walls, recreation areas, sports grounds. Each investor is obliged to build sports facilities certified to international standards: swimming pools, tennis courts, football fields. This will make it possible to hold training camps and competitions of national and international level during the off-season.

"The creation of the Caspian Coastal Cluster is not just a tourism project. It is our joint effort with the Government of Russia and investors for the comfort of the people of Dagestan, new opportunities for young people, economic development and turning the republic into a modern centre of hospitality," concluded Sergei Melikov.
