Sergei Melikov opened a series of meetings with regional heads at the National Centre RUSSIA and presented a strategic vision for Dagestan’s future
On 4 September, the National Centre RUSSIA launched a series of meetings with the heads of constituent entities of the Russian Federation "Platform of the Future: Region 2030. 100 Steps". These events are held as part of the exposition "Region 2030. Platform of the Future" and are aimed at discussing priority measures and strategic projects that will shape the country’s profile by 2030.
The first guest was Sergei Melikov, Head of the Republic of Dagestan. In an open dialogue with the public, Sergei Melikov spoke in detail about his strategic vision for the development of the region in the near future, covering key areas — from the economy to personnel policy. The central theme of the meeting was the image of Dagestan in 2030.
"Above all, I want to see Dagestan stable. This is a republic where the quality of life of people will improve significantly and at least reach the levels that other constituent entities of Russia are justly proud of. And of course, we always want to see Dagestan peaceful, as it has historically been — a land of hospitable and friendly people," noted Sergei Melikov.
The head of the region stressed that the character of the people of Dagestan has always been shaped by the mountainous terrain, which requires hard work, resilience and strength of spirit. He also reminded of the republic’s crucial historical role as a crossroads of trade routes, emphasising that today this potential is being realised through large-scale projects — from the North–South international transport corridor to the modernisation of the Makhachkala seaport, which has shown record cargo turnover over the past twenty years.
Special attention was paid by Melikov to issues directly affecting people’s lives: the modernisation of water supply systems, the development of the energy sector, and the support of agricultural production — the traditional backbone of Dagestan’s economy. Tourism was named a promising area: the number of tourists has already exceeded 1.8 million per year, and it is planned to surpass 2 million in the near future.
Speaking about human resources policy, the head of the region noted that the key principles here should remain competence, honesty and dedication. He also expressed special gratitude to the people of Dagestan, who have always defended the Motherland. "A vivid testimony of their courage is the 15 Gold Stars and the titles of Heroes of the Russian Federation awarded to our servicemen," emphasised Sergei Melikov.
"Dagestan is a remarkable territory, one might say a small model of the entire Russian Federation, where numerous nationalities and religions are represented in harmony, as well as almost all the natural landscapes of our vast country," summed up the head of the region, expressing confidence in the future prosperity and well-being of Dagestan and Russia.
The first week of the exposition "Region 2030. Platform of the Future" is dedicated to the Republic of Dagestan. From 2 to 7 September, visitors to the National Centre RUSSIA can get acquainted with the culture and traditions of the region: try national dishes, attend workshops and lectures, listen to traditional music, and purchase goods from local producers at the Department Store.
Sergei Melikov emphasised that the Government of Russia provides systemic support to the republic in implementing the large-scale Caspian Coastal Cluster project.
The central event of the festival will be an exposition of 59 prototypes of games and toys developed by the contestants in five thematic areas.
