Siberian Amazonia and the Festival of the Axe: what makes the Tomsk region special
At the
RUSSIA EXPO, the region presented an exposition inspired by the fairy tale
"The Emerald City", as its author, Alexander Volkov, was born in the
Tomsk region. The stand offers visitors a comprehensive introduction to the
region through thematic zones: "Heart", "Mind" and
"Courage."
The first
zone is dedicated to key developments in the field of medicine, the second will
inform guests about scientific activities, and the third will showcase
breakthrough technologies in various fields. Young visitors won't be bored
either, as there are computer games and an art sandbox called "Jurassic
World."
Additionally,
the region's stand provides information about its natural attractions. There
are many, including the picturesque Blue Cliff and Talovsky Bowls, the
mysterious Vasyugan Swamps, the Ob-Yenisei Canal and the Polto Lake-River
System.
The
regional capital, Tomsk, though a small city, boasts beauty and ancient
architecture. Tomsk was once the capital of Siberia, as well as Altai and part
of Kazakhstan. The Siberian taiga begins just outside the city. In the region,
you can hunt grouse and try stroganina made from rare fish. Tourists come here
to see untouched wilderness or to attend vibrant ethno-cultural festivals. For
instance, the local Festival of the Axe gathers carpenters from all over the
world.
At the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra, the exposition "Soulful Defence Industry" has opened as part of the 5th Forum "Patriots of the Urals".
The Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Ural Federal District, Artyom Zhoga, is taking part in the 5th Forum of volunteers and civic activists "Patriots of the Urals".
"The Crimean Spring" and 18 March are dates that have become part of our country’s modern history.
