"Listen to your heart": Hero of Russia Damir Yusupov and actor Yegor Beroev talked about the movie Emergency Landing

A screening of the movie Emergency Landing (also known as At the Sun, Along the Corn Rows) was held at the RUSSIA EXPO. Visitors also met with civil aviation pilot, Hero of Russia Damir Yusupov and theater and film actor, TV presenter Yegor Beroev, who played the role of Damir in the film.

The plot of the film directed by Sarik Andreasyan is based on a real event that took place on August 15, 2019. The crew, performing a scheduled flight on the route Moscow - Simferopol, soon after departure from the airport faced the failure of both engines due to a flock of seagulls, but managed to safely land the airliner in a cornfield. All 233 people on board, including crew members, survived.

"It's been five years, the passions have settled down, but of course that morning was very emotional and very difficult because everything happened unexpectedly. There was a really extraordinary, emergency situation, it was very noisy in the cockpit, sound alarms went off, visual indication failed, nevertheless, the crew proved themselves worthy, and as a result - 233 people were rescued, they were able to return home to their families that morning," said civil aviation pilot, Hero of Russia Damir Yusupov.

The pilot also shared his memories of how he was honored with the high award.

"I am, after all, a Soviet schoolboy, and at that time heroes were veterans of the Great Patriotic War, and to me they seemed unattainable stars, and, of course, I could never even guess that I would one day become a hero. To tell you the truth, I was even a little embarrassed and unused to it. And, of course, this title implies a very big responsibility - it is both social work, meetings with schoolchildren and students, and various patriotic events, and I, of course, always try to find time for these meetings," the pilot said.

The modesty of Damir Yusupov was also noted by the performer of the main role in the movie - actor Yegor Beroev. He talked about how he was preparing himself for filming, what inspired him in this story and why it deserves attention.

"Of course, I knew about the situation that happened on August 15 with Damir, this story shook the whole country. And when I read the script of the future movie, I really liked that it was simple, without any contrivances. It was just a human story, which gave us all a very important foundation, allowed us to think about choosing our life path and profession, reminded us that we should listen to our heart," said the actor.

The International RUSSIA EXPO is the most important achievements of the country gathered in one place.
