"Inventing the Future: Plots and Stories" — the ways storytelling is creating a new reality will be discussed at the National Centre RUSSIA
A new season of the Open Lecture Hall "Inventing the Future: Plots and Stories" will open on 7 February at the National Centre RUSSIA. The programme focuses on the impact of storytelling on key areas of human life, from education to gastronomy. Leading Russian and international experts will discuss how the lifestyle and mindset of the person of tomorrow are changing, why the cultural contexts of different countries shape perceptions of the future, and what meta-narratives emerge in international dialogue. Special attention will be given to the role of stories as a tool for education, marketing, cinematic language and even the formation of taste preferences in society.
The talks will be accompanied by visualisations created using artificial intelligence based on future scenarios proposed by the Lecture Hall speakers. A recurring fictional character in the video materials will serve as a guide into the world of tomorrow.
The programme will begin with the session "Education Through Stories", during which speakers will explore how storytelling transforms different forms of education, how perceptions of the past influence views of the present and the future, and which approaches make narratives about time engaging and accessible.
The session "Stories in Advertising and Consumption" will focus on how companies turn products into personal consumer experiences, what role stories will play in future consumption models, and which brand-narrative formats will become defining.
The block "Stories in Cinema and Video Games" is dedicated to immersion in the atmosphere of media products and to the transformation of storytelling language in the future.
The programme will conclude with a master class featuring a tasting in the Gastronomic Rows, where participants will explore history through flavour and the culinary techniques of chefs.
"Inventing the Future" continues the educational Lecture Hall on future scenarios, bringing together key areas of human development, from culture and creativity to science and technology. Leading Russian and international visionaries will share their perspectives on what the lifestyle and mindset of the person of tomorrow may look like.
