RT television correspondents have returned from the front line, where they delivered more than 1,500 letters written by visitors to the National Centre RUSSIA as part of the #LetterToAHero campaign. The first batch of letters was delivered to special forces fighters in the Donetsk People's Republic.

From February 23 to May 31, over 4,500 letters with heartfelt words for those who risk their lives daily on the front line were placed into a capsule at the entrance to the "Journey Across Russia" exposition. Anyone could write a message to the front and express words of support and gratitude to the servicemen. In their letters, visitors to the National Centre RUSSIA wished the defenders courage, health, and good fortune. Messages came not only from adults but also from children. For example, six-year-old Margarita wished the heroes a speedy victory and safe return. The main goal of the campaign is to support the soldiers, boost their morale, and strengthen their connection with those behind the front line.

"Many participants in the campaign told us that they regularly write letters to the front, and some have even travelled to the area of the special military operation. They were very eager to support the initiative," said Vasilisa Yachmeneva, volunteer programme manager at the National Centre RUSSIA.

Campaign participant Alina Sapronova shared her view that everyone who receives such a letter will feel the support of the whole country behind them.

"This campaign is not just words on paper, but a sincere 'thank you' to those who stand guard over peace and security. When I was writing my letter, I understood that these words could provide real support to the soldiers," Alina Sapronova emphasised.

The #LetterToAHero campaign is organised by the Volunteer Centre of the National Centre RUSSIA in cooperation with the "RT.Doc: Time of Our Heroes" festival.

The campaign will continue in the autumn of this year.
