"The "Healthy Fatherland" movement will organize a sports parade procession at the RUSSIA EXPO
On May 25,
the "Healthy Fatherland" movement will organize a sports parade on
the site of the International RUSSIA EXPO. It will be timed to the 105th
anniversary of the first parade.
During the
event, guests of the Exposition will be able to observe the best sporting
achievements of the past, present and future.
"The
parade will demonstrate the rich history, glorious present and great future of
domestic sport. Two thousand athletes from all regions of Russia will take part
in it - these are not only our illustrious champions, but also young athletes.
The event will give a countdown to the grandiose sports parade on Red Square in
2025. As our President said, a healthy lifestyle should become a norm in
society. The sports program of the Exposition contributes to this - the
"Sports Russia" platform is open for visitors, mass exercises with
the participation of professional athletes are held daily. Every guest of the
RUSSIA EXPO can become a spectator of the procession - I am sure that this
event will inspire everyone to take regular exercise and help turn it into a real
family tradition," emphasized Natalia Virtuozova, Director General of the
RUSSIA EXPO.
After the
solemn formation, more than two thousand athletes - swimmers, runners,
gymnasts, boxers, sambo wrestlers, volleyball players, football players,
skaters and figure skaters - will take part in the procession. In addition,
representatives of the Paralympic movement will take part in the parade.
Columns of
the procession will be led by famous athletes; they will also hold a workout
and present their federations. The event will end with a festive concert.
"Parades
are not only beautiful and prestigious, but also very important for
strengthening the sense of pride for the country. We are a great sporting
power; our movement feels responsible for the future of Russian sport. Now more
than ever it is important to show the world the power of a real Russian
athlete, to show those champions and Olympians who have proved on the world
stage that Russian sport is the best in the world," said the head of the
movement Ekaterina Leshchinskaya.
Today a lot
of attention is paid to the development of mass sports in Russia. President
Vladimir Putin has set the task to involve at least 70% of Russians in
systematic sport by 2030. In addition to the development of sports
infrastructure, it is necessary to make sport fashionable.
The parade
march at the RUSSIA EXPO will be watched by thousands of spectators, as well as
representatives of 89 regions represented in Pavilion No. 75.
The idea of
reviving sports parades on Red Square was supported by President Vladimir
Putin. The first parade of physical culture enthusiast and detachments of
Vsevobuch - the system of military training of Soviet citizens - took place on
Red Square in 1919. Since 1931, parades of physical culture enthusiast were
held on the main square of the country in the presence of the country's
leadership, and thousands of people took part in them. The tradition of parades
was interrupted by the Great Patriotic War. The subsequent parade on Red Square
took place in August 1945, and in 1946-1954 the All-Union parades of sportsmen
were held annually at the "Dinamo" stadium. Since the mid-1950s and
up to the collapse of the Soviet Union, marches of physical culture enthusiast
opened demonstrations on Moscow's Red Square on May 1 and the anniversary of
the October Revolution on November 7.
