Stanislav Drobyshevsky in the podcast "Russia Speaks" — on a unique archaeological discovery
Scientists have made a sensational discovery in the study of Neanderthal culture: a bone with an engraving has been found, the meaning of which has not yet been fully deciphered. Stanislav Drobyshevsky, anthropologist, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University and leader of the public science popularisation movement "Drobyshevsky’s Projects", shared details of the significant find in the podcast "Russia Speaks".
"We have found a sensation of truly historic proportions — a small scratch with a Neanderthal engraving. The bone was carefully polished, and a zigzag was scratched onto it with a flint flake, with small arcs and short and long lines added. Why they did this is not obvious, but afterwards the bone was deliberately broken from four sides and placed at their site. And this was definitely not accidental," said Stanislav Drobyshevsky.
