Ancient wedding rituals of the Tula region came to life at the National Centre RUSSIA
On 16 September, a unique event took place at the National
Centre RUSSIA: a theatrical re-enactment of an old wedding ceremony from the
Tula region. The event was part of the exposition "Region-2030. Platform of the Future" and the Tula Region Days.
The ceremony for Alexander and Karina began with an
atmospheric scene of old Tula: folk songs and accordion music filled the hall,
and guests saw traditional costumes. The bride was led in to women’s singing
and seated at a table decorated with spruce branches, while the groom was
greeted with men’s voices and the lively sound of the accordion.
The audience was drawn into age-old customs: the covering of
the bride’s head with a towel, the ransom, the exchange of gifts, a round dance
and triple kisses. Each participant was given a colourful ribbon to tie onto a
spruce branch — a symbol of family happiness.
"We study at the Faculty of History at Tula State
Pedagogical University. When we were invited to take part in the Days of the
Tula Region, we immediately agreed — to support our region and show that
traditions can live on in the modern world," said Alexander.
Alexander and Karina were recently married, and the
theatrical re-enactment of the traditional wedding ritual became a special gift
from their home region.
The event at the National Centre RUSSIA turned into a true
celebration of culture — an occasion where tradition and modernity met in one
space, leaving guests with unforgettable impressions.
