The Voronezh region is a territory with a rich history and glorious traditions. At the exposition "Region-2030. Platform of the Future" guests can get acquainted with the main sights, culture and achievements of this distinctive region of Russia, and even feel the atmosphere of the Kostyonki site with its hearths, which reveals the secrets of ancient man.

Namely from the Kostyonki site, a unique archaeological complex located in the Voronezh region, the acquaintance with the region begins at the display. The Kostyonkovsko-Borshchevsky complex is a group of Paleolithic sites of ancient man located in the area of the villages of Kostyonki and Borshchevo. More than 60 Stone Age sites, including 10 multi-layered ones, have been discovered on an area of only 30 square kilometers.

Two types of dwellings were found there: elongated structures with hearths along the longitudinal axis, and round buildings with a central hearth. Mammoth bones, animal skins, wood, and earthen mounds were used for construction.

The first site of Kostyonki-1 was discovered in 1879 by archaeologist Ivan Polyakov, and systematic excavations there began in the 1920s, under the leadership of the famous Paleolithic researcher Peter Yefimenko.

"The remains of an ancient man from the Kostyonki-14 site underwent a facial reconstruction by anthropologist Mikhail Gerasimov, who personally participated in the excavations. Later, in 1991, the Kostyonki State Archaeological Museum-Reserve was established there to study and preserve historical monuments," the tour guides of the National Centre RUSSIA tell the guests of the Voronezh region's stand.

The Voronezh region at the exposition "Region-2030. The Platform of the Future" is a fascinating journey through the epochs: from the origins of ancient civilizations to space technologies, from Peter the Great's shipyards to the peaceful atom. In addition to the archaeological complex "Kostyonki", guests will get acquainted with the unique frigate "Goto Predestinatsia", the model of which is the central showpiece of the stand, IL-96-400M aircraft, and liquid-propellant rocket engines. Besides that, they will have a chance to learn about one of the first industrial nuclear power plants of the USSR, the famous "Chernozem monolith", which used to be the standard of fertile soil some time in the past, and even about the sweetest bronze kitten living on Lizyukova Street in the capital of the region.

Guests will be able to get a closer look at the rich heritage and modern achievements of the region at the thematic Days of the Voronezh region, which will be held at the National Centre RUSSIA from 9 to 14 September.
