On August 28, the National Centre RUSSIA invites you to an event of the literary club "What to read?!" dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of Arkady Strugatsky. The evening will be hosted by Alexey Chesnakov, Head of the Scientific Council of the Centre for Political Analysis, Professor at HSE University, and author of the Telegram channel "Chesnakov.Library". The expert will help guests to take a fresh look at the legacy of the legendary science fiction writer.

Arkady Strugatsky, born on August 28, 1925, together with his brother Boris, created a huge world in the universe of science fiction. Their books have become philosophical manifestos which keep inspiring new generations of readers. At the evening, the guests will talk about Strugatsky's most significant works, discuss their relevance in the modern world, and try to look into the future through the prism of their ideas.

"Many of us love science fiction. And very soon, a literary club meeting dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Arkady Strugatsky's birth will be held at the National Centre RUSSIA. We will discuss the Strugatskys' work, their importance, new books related to science fiction, and the popularity of various kinds of dreams that modern society lives by. We'll discuss how science fiction affects the development of society, and talk about the future," said Alexey Chesnakov.

The programme of the evening includes:

— analysis of the Strugatsky's key works and their significance for the world literature;

— a discussion about the impact of science fiction on the development of technology and society;

— an overview of new publications and research on the work of writers;

— a conversation about what predictions made by the authors came true, and which remained utopias.

This event is a unique opportunity for all fans of high-quality sci-fiction to meet like-minded people, gain a deeper understanding of the great writers’ work, and, perhaps, take a fresh look at our common future.

The meeting starts at 19:00. All details are on the website of the National Centre RUSSIA in the "Events" section.
