ol Babai — Udmurt Ded Moroz celebrated his day at the RUSSIA EXPO
The International RUSSIA EXPO, which is held at VDNH, celebrated the day of the Udmurt Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost) — Tol Babai. The celebration began with a procession to the Main Street Stage of the Exposition, which was followed by a concert. In addition, animators organized entertainment for children — for example, they could participate in the quest "The Treasure of Ded Moroz".
"The holiday is great — the kids are smiling, and for me this is the best gift", — said Tol Babai. Talking about how the New Year is celebrated in Udmurtia, he emphasized that despite the common traditions with the rest of Russia, the republic has its own peculiarities.
"Once we celebrated the New Year in spring. But now, in order not to be separated from others, we celebrate it on January 1. We have a tradition of giving joy, love, visiting our loved ones, giving gifts — like everyone else. But we have a tradition to celebrate the New Year in the forest — now my compatriots from Udmurtia have started to do it more often. They take care of the forest and animals",— said the Udmurt Ded Moroz.
Tol Babai’s residence is located in the village of Sharkan, less than a hundred kilometers from Izhevsk, the capital of Udmurtia. From the beginning of December to the end of January, large New Year celebrations are traditionally held there.
The culture of the peoples of Russia counts 18 Grandfather Frosts — from North Ossetian Artkhuron to Chyyskhaan from Yakutia. All of them will visit the RUSSIA EXPO. Each weekend until December 24 will be dedicated to one Ded Moroz. The day before, November 18, celebrated the birthday of Ded Moroz from Veliky Ustyug.
The International RUSSIA EXPO is the most important achievements of the country gathered in one place. During the whole time of the Exposition, guests are welcomed with cultural and entertainment events, a rich business and educational program. The expositions of 89 Russian regions, leading federal departments, corporations and public organizations will be presented to the visitors.
