International experts gave high praise to "The Birth of Scale" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA. On the final day of the exposition, July 30, leading architects from around the world discussed key trends in modern urban planning. Particular attention was given to the interplay between tradition and innovation in the architecture of Russia and India.

Contemporary Russian architecture carefully preserves national traditions. This was emphasised by Rajendra Kumar, Director of the School of Architecture at Lovely Professional University (India), during the business programme on the final day of the exposition. He also noted that "The Birth of Scale" became a platform for professional dialogue among architects from across the globe.

"This is a magnificent exposition. I would like to express my gratitude to the curator — he did a great job showcasing how Russian architecture blends tradition and modernity. Respect for traditions and cultural legacy is exactly what unites Russia and India. I visit your country often and see this in many cities. This respect is reflected in the architecture," Rajendra Kumar highlighted.

Global Dialogue

The expert discussions on architecture also featured:

- Walid Arafa, founder of Dar Arafa Architecture (Egypt);

- Alireza Taghaboni, architect and founder of Next Office (Iran);

- Nadia Tromp, founding director of Ntsika Architects (South Africa).

Technology and Sustainability

Rajendra Kumar stressed that Russia and India are brought together not only by a shared respect for tradition, but also by the active implementation of digital solutions in architecture. According to the expert, among the key trends in modern urban planning are the use of advanced technologies, environmental responsibility, and adaptation to climate change.

"Another trend I would point out is the aspiration of cities towards global identity. We are seeing how many of the world’s megacities adopt architectural elements from other major cities. This desire to become a 'global city' can be observed in many capitals," the Indian expert added.

Over the course of its run, "The Birth of Scale" exposition introduced tens of thousands of visitors to the rich history of Russian architecture. Guests viewed 70 architectural models specially created for the project, each representing unique artistic and historical value.

The exposition brought together industry professionals — renowned architects, designers, and urban planners — with future specialists and a wide audience of architecture enthusiasts. The exposition became a significant milestone in the professional dialogue on the development of urban planning in the country.

As a result of the project, the book "Architecture. The Birth of Scale" was published, presented by the exposition’s chief curator, Andrei Chernikhov. The publication will be available for purchase at the Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA.
