The series of events "Book Beacons of Russia Visiting Gazprom" at the RUSSIA EXPO continued with a creative meeting with writer and author of "Diary of the Domovoy" Evgeny Cheshirko in the Gazprom Pavilion F. He talked about his creative journey and the history behind the characters in his works.

"The love for reading originates in childhood. I recently thought that when you get into a community of writers, especially where there are older people  they like to wrinkle their nose at the mention of entertaining literature. But look: when a child wants to be encouraged to read, to enjoy it  if we as adults start acting solely on the argument that reading is useful and necessary, it won't work. A child does not like cabbage, for example, for all its benefits. A little person thinks in categories: whether it entertains them or not. I think that from this point of view, entertainment literature is one of the most important genres of literature. For a person to read Machiavelli's 'The Sovereign' later, he should start with "Neznayka" or 'Kolobok'," shared his point of view Evgeny Cheshirko.

Speaking about his creative path, the author noted that it all started with entertaining himself, then his circle and close people. Then with each written story came the responsibility to the reader. According to him, on the one hand, this is good, on the other hand — it somewhat drives you into certain limits, it begins to seem that you can not write about some things precisely because of the established internal limitations.

"My first steps as an author were made when I was 26, I didn't really understand what was going on then. I was just publishing some stories online. It was not something for me to think about and analyze. Maybe that's where the lightness of the texts comes from, even the lightweight nature of them at times. I don't call myself a writer at all. It's a status that has to be earned. You can't hang up this word like a medal — it has to come from the outside," the author emphasized.

Evgeny Cheshirko is a native of Stavropol. He graduated from the State Technical University, specializing in customs business. He worked as a specialist in real estate sales. He got engaged in creative work in 2014. It was then that he wrote the first parts of "Diary of the Domovoy". The work about the adventures of a cheeky but charming creature was read in the Runet by more than two million people. The author also released collections of philosophical stories and parables. Among them are "Stories from the Attic", "The Edge of the World Chronicles", "Gloomy Story" and "Night of Heavenly Fireflies".
