At the master class at the National Centre RUSSIA, fashion and architecture were combined in a headdress sketch
Another
master class within the creative module "Children’s Architectural
Workshops" of the exposition "The Birth of Scale" took place on
March 16 at the National Centre RUSSIA. Using the example of creating a women's
headdress "À la Russe," participants learned about the concept of
stylization and mastered a technique combining elements of graphics and
appliqué. The master class was conducted by teachers from the Moscow Children's
School of Arts "START."
"When
we received the invitation to conduct an on-site class in the exposition space
'The Birth of Scale,' we immediately embraced the idea because we found it very
interesting to learn more about the origins of Russian architecture, immerse
ourselves once again in Russian culture, and understand our Russian code. Our
goal was to reflect it as much as possible in a flat work, conveying the
connection between design and architecture through form, which we chose to
represent with a Russian headdress — the kokoshnik. After exploring the
exposition, the children selected buildings, structures, shapes, lines, and
colors that caught their attention and, in their opinion, best represent the
essence of Russian architecture and form — then they reinterpreted and modernized
the headdress," said Inna Mironenko, a graphic design teacher at the
Children's School of Arts "START."
An unusual
experience of combining design and architecture was available at the master
class not only for beginners but also for students of the School of Arts.
"First,
we selected the buildings we liked, then we drew a Russian kokoshnik and
incorporated into it the details of the buildings that would make them
recognizable. It was a completely new experience—we had never done anything
like this before. The result was a very unusual combination, and I really
enjoyed it," shared her impressions Grace Kashia, a student of the
elective program "Fundamentals of Design" at the Children's School of
Arts "START."
The
architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale" is dedicated to Russian
architecture and urban planning. The exposition reveals the greatness of Russia
through its architectural legacy and allows visitors to trace the development
of Russian architecture — from unique examples of historical buildings to
large-scale modern projects. Children's creative studios, student workshops,
and works by young architects are presented in a separate section of the
exposition dedicated to the future.
Partners of
the exposition "The Birth of Scale" include DOM.RF, the Ministry of
Construction of Russia, Gazprom, the A.V. Shchusev State Research Museum of
Architecture, the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art, the Yakov
Chernikhov Architectural Charity Fund, and the HSE School of Design.
Master
classes and other educational events within the exposition can be attended free
of charge with prior registration. Up-to-date information is available on the
website of the National Centre RUSSIA at russia.ru in the "Events"
