Udmurt holiday "Gerber" was celebrated at the RUSSIA EXPO
The program
of the Udmurt national holiday "Gerber" included themed
masterclasses, presentations, concerts of national music, and discos.
The
Chairman of the Government of the Udmurt Republic, Yaroslav Semyonov, noted
that the festive program provided an opportunity to get acquainted with the
culture and life of Udmurtia:
"Our
great country is strong because we are all different, but we are united by very
simple, understandable things. We value our past. We respect the older
generation. We think about the present day, but most of all, we love our
children, and through our love for them, we want to make the future of our
country even stronger and more confident. For those who do not know what the
Udmurt Republic is, today presented a unique opportunity. We are happy to share
our unique culture, our generous, beautiful land. And, of course, we invite
everyone to become its guests through the presentation of the event tourism
calendar," emphasized Yaroslav Semyonov.
The
celebration of "Gerber" at the Exposition opened with the First
National Run, conducted by sports journalist and commentator Dmitry Guberniev.
Adult participants competed at distances of 5 and 10 kilometers, while children
ran 500 and 1000 meters. They were joined by famous athletes born in Udmurtia —
skier, three-time Olympic silver medalist Maxim Vylegzhanin, biathlete,
three-time world champion Ivan Cherezov, track and field athlete Marina
Azyabina, two-time Paralympic champion skier Vladislav Lekomtsev, marathon
runner and master of sports Yuri Chechuni, and other athletes.
The Main
Stage of the Exposition hosted the final of the Finno-Ugric Music Competition
and the awarding ceremony of the winners in three categories: "Solo
Singing", "Instruments", and "Ensemble". Additionally,
the State Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Udmurt Republic
"Italmas" named after A.V. Mamontov, performed. The celebration
concluded with an Ethno-disco by the "Ektonika" project.
Throughout
the day, themed masterclasses and the "Made in Udmurtia" expo-fair
were held in special pavilions built for the holiday. The fair featured
souvenirs and national products of the Republic, gift sets, a wooden
"smart" house, forged and cast items from local producers, and much
more. In addition, the Udmurtia site showcased the "Work in Udmurtia"
project.
"Gerber"
is the Udmurt national holiday marking the end of spring fieldwork. Its name
comes from the Udmurt words "gery" — plow, and "bere" —
after, behind. Since 1992, it has acquired the status of a republic-wide
holiday, attracting not only residents of the region but also guests from
neighboring areas and across the country. Since 2015, the holiday has gained
federal status and has been held in Moscow for the sixth time.
By order of the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region, Mikhail Kotyukov, the recognizable appearance of the exposition and its key displays have been recreated.
The National Centre RUSSIA is presenting a new project — the podcast series "Tell Me About Victory."
