The Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA announced the top 5 most popular pre-New Year purchases
The most
frequent purchases at the Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA during
the first two weeks of December included napkins with festive designs, New Year
ornaments, and kokoshniks.
The holiday
rush urges Moscow residents and visitors to the capital to think about timely
gift shopping for their loved ones and friends. Within just the first two weeks
of December, the number of purchases by Russians increased sevenfold (+627%).
The most active shopping days were Saturday (+120%), Tuesday (+53%), and
Wednesday (+28%).
The
Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA offers four main categories of
products: accessories, groceries, traditional folk crafts and handicrafts,
cosmetics, as well as an additional category — the New Year’s market.
According
to statistics, the most popular items chosen by visitors included napkins with
festive patterns (89% share in the "folk crafts and handicrafts"
category), handmade New Year ornaments featuring fairy-tale characters (52% in
the "New Year’s market" category), gift-wrapped gingerbread (28% in
the "groceries" section), earrings and kokoshniks by local designers
(20% in the "accessories" category), and lip balm (13% in the
"cosmetics" category).

see a growing interest in Russian-made products. The Department Store provides
manufacturers with not only the opportunity to present their items at the
National Centre RUSSIA but also supports their promotion, popularization, and
the creation of new products through collaborations, thereby boosting
recognition and the growth of regional brands," said Maria Gromyko, Deputy
Head of the Social Communications and Regional Interaction Department of the
ANO DEA "Russia."
The
National Centre RUSSIA was established by order of the President of the Russian
Federation, Vladimir Putin, to preserve the legacy of the International RUSSIA
EXPO and to showcase the achievements of the country and its citizens on a
permanent basis. Federal government agencies, state companies, corporations,
and regions take part in the Centre’s work.
The
National Centre RUSSIA is located at 14 Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment, Moscow.
The Centre is open from 10:00 to 20:00 every day except Monday.
