The largest gem-quality diamond in 10 years has been discovered in Russia. It was mined by ALROSA at the Mayat mine in the Anabar district of Yakutia. The weight of the stone is 390.7 carats. It is unique not only for its size, but also for its non-standard appearance.

The discovery was made at night while rinsing diamondiferous sands. At the same time, another stone was found — colorless, regular in shape and weighing 37.7 carats. Both crystals were handed over to experts. According to ALROSA, the previous gem-quality diamond record-breaker was discovered in 2013, its mass was 401 carats.

Yakutian diamonds are presented on the "Achievements.RF" platform and can be voted for. The vote will be considered when compiling a rating of achievements of Russian regions.

As a reminder, the "Achievements.RF" project was created in preparation for the International RUSSIA EXPO, where the constituent entities of the Russian Federation will tell about their successes in various spheres.
