A performance based on the stories of mothers and wives of participants in the Special Military Operation was held at the National Centre RUSSIA
Documentary
monologues of mothers, wives, and sisters of participants in the Special
Military Operation, as well as the soldiers themselves, formed the foundation
of the musical and poetic performance "Sisters." The second showing
of this production was held on January 29, 2025, at the National Centre RUSSIA.
The stories
of the "sisters" were collected by frontline documentarian and poet
Olesya Shigina. The heroines of the performance are real people with their own
stories, collectively embodying the image of a woman who knows how to wait and
love.
"The
idea for the performance came to me when I visited the front in 2022 to film my
first movie about the SMO. I realized that the people on the frontlines are the
greatest story of Russia. All the guys are now standing together, in the same
trench, each with an incredible trail of a powerful life story. From the very
first day I was there, I knew this was something one could write about endlessly,
film endlessly. I experienced it all — shedding tears with the heroes, laughing
with them, singing songs. Now, the time is coming for major serious feature
films," said Olesya Shigina, the scriptwriter.
The
performance "Sisters" vividly demonstrates how bonds of kinship form
among people, with women on the home front becoming sisters and the defenders
on the frontlines becoming brothers.
The project
is being implemented with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural
Initiatives.
