The winners of the "Capital of Financial Culture" contest have been announced at the National Centre RUSSIA
The winners of the first All-Russian Contest "Capital of Financial Culture" were the Krasnoyarsk region and the Nizhny Novgorod region. The award ceremony took place at the National Centre RUSSIA on March 12. The contest is organized by the Bank of Russia and the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, with the goal of supporting the best regional initiatives in financial education for citizens.
"When we talk about a modern educated person, we mean someone who is financially literate, possessing financial culture skills: how to invest savings wisely, earn from finance competently, and build a financial safety cushion. The more financially literate people there are, the stronger the finances of both the region and the state as a whole. We congratulate the regions of the Russian Federation that participated in the contest and passed the rigorous selection process," said Anton Siluanov, Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation.
The winning regions will receive informational, expert, and methodological support for their projects. Additionally, they will serve as platforms for forums and conferences aimed at experience sharing and promoting financial literacy.
"When we first conceived this contest, we were certain that we would receive many interesting projects. And we were not mistaken! Every team that made it to the finals had its own unique ideas and developments. We debated for a long time about who should be named the winner, but we couldn't choose just one. That’s why this year, we have two Capitals of Financial Culture," said Elvira Nabiullina, Chair of the Bank of Russia.
The contest was held in two stages. In the first stage, the jury reviewed applications from 21 regions of the Russian Federation. Participants submitted information about regional programs aimed at improving financial literacy among citizens, as well as the financial education infrastructure they had established. Twelve regions advanced to the finals, where they presented new educational projects they planned to implement if they won.
According to the organizers, all submitted applications were unique and creative in their own way, making the projects of all participants — not just the winners — important. After all, they all contribute to a common goal: fostering financial culture in Russia.
By order of the Government of the Russian Federation, the "Capital of Financial Culture" contest will be held annually.
